My mother's family is deeply rooted in Gaza. It's among the first Palestinian families to live there since centuries, and she never forgot her roots. Her drive and strive to send aid, distribute food, and to extend a helping hand, to date, continues to feed my inspiration to help out. I am in Gaza, today, because of that flame and humane drive she installed in me; Because of those roots; And because my people need me.
